History
The Parish Resource Center of Long Island- West, Inc. (PRC) was founded in 1992 as a non-denominational, non-sectarian not-for-profit organization that would work to strengthen congregations by nurturing, training, and equipping lay leaders, teachers, workers, and clergy. The vision of the Parish Resource Center is to help communities of faith flourish as leaders discover the consultation, encouragement, and tools they need to exercise their gifts in their unique congregational setting.
PRC of Long Island West, Inc. has worked to successfully establish relationships with congregations of all sizes and all denominations in the Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Bronx, Nassau, and Westchester areas. The professional level staff consultants and Board of Directors represent the multi-denominational and multi-ethnic environment which the PRC serves. The PRC has learned to address the needs of individual subscribers in the unique settings, and to recognize that the needs of large program based ministries are quite different from the needs of team based or small congregational ministries. The consultants are equipped to work with each individual subscriber to determine the specific tools, programs, resources, and approaches that will best work in each situation.
The Parish Resource Center of Long Island- West is a free-standing, not-for-profit organization, governed by a local, non-sectarian Board of Directors. It is affiliated with the network of Parish Resource Centers in various parts of the United States and is accredited by Parish Resource Center, Inc.
