Questions you might be asking:

  • Is this the right time to build?
  • What is the purpose of our church?
  • Why is church attendance important?
  • Is it right for a church to go into debt?
  • How should conflict during a renovation project be handled?

Here is the opportunity to hear from local building and financial experts and gain from their expertise.

Plan to bring several members from your congregation so you can attend all of the workshops.

Workshops:  (A total of 6 workshops will be offered. Two architects, two financial experts and two contractors will be presenting. Choose one from each session or bring a group so that you can attend all.)

Session One:

Arthur Funk and Sons, Construction Managers
“Adaptive Re-Use and Remodeling to Stretch Your Budget”
Café’s, welcome centers, handicap accessibility, retro fitting, wifi, technology, energy efficiency …remodeling and additions today call for new ways and designs to meet ministry needs in the 21st Century.

Kirby-Smith
“Capital Campaigns—What’s Your Vision?”
Getting your building project started on firm footing can be a daunting prospect. Gene Musser, President of Kirby-Smith Associates will talk with you about church stewardship issues, capital campaigns, and giving as part of the vision process. Is your leadership asking the right questions? What is your goal vs. need? What do you need for success? Is a Feasibility Study needed, and what will it tell you? Our scripturally-based fundraising methods can turn your church’s vision into reality and help your church family grow.

Beers & Hoffman Architects
“Mission Possible!”
Learn how early planning with an architect contributes to the value and success of your church building project and mission. Topics discussed include Leadership, Goals and Objectives, Program Assessment, Design Team Methods and Approaches, Presentation and Fundraising tools such as 3-D renderings and Animation, and Design Options and Considerations for all fundamental spaces. You’ll see actual case studies and examples of churches in various stages of their building project.

Session Two:

Poole Construction
“Multisite Church Expansion Involves the DNA of a Church Being Replicated at Multiple Locations”
From a medical perspective DNA is the main component of the chromosomes, the material that transfers genetic characteristics; the origin of things. From a ministry perspective church DNA is the main component of the church’s members, that transfer the church’s spiritual characteristics or the origin of their ministry. To have this somewhere else it would have to be replicated, as an exact copy, reproduced or repeated with the spiritual traits, qualities or features that characterize a ministry. The strategies, potential sites, critical elements, cost factors, challenges and leadership principles for multisite church expansion will be explored.

JHM & Associates
“Are people still giving to capital campaigns in the current economy?”
This session will provide a brief overview of giving in recent economic cycles as well as discuss what is involved with preparing for and conducting a capital campaign in your local church.

Cornerstone Design Architects
“Designing Your Church’s Vision”
A broad based presentation of design considerations a congregation may engage when envisioning expansion and/or renovations. An overview of the design and approval process will provide the framework for this seminar.
