Advent Art Exhibit:

"I Bring You Good News of Great Joy"

December 3-12, 2012

The Parish Resource Center, 633 Community Way, Lancaster, has issued a call for art submissions for an exhibit to be held during December of 2012. Professional and amateur artists are invited to submit art in any medium on the theme “I Bring You Good News of Great Joy .”

This year’s theme uses the image of the third Advent candle—the pink or shepherd's candle, the Candle of Joy! Our theme comes from Luke 2:7-15:

The angels sang a message of JOY!

“…and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.’ Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.’ When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

The exhibit will be held in the great room of the Center. Artists are asked to notify the Center by Fri., Nov. 2, 2012 of their desire to participate. Agreements for purchase of artwork are permitted while it is on display.

Opening Night Free Reception: Monday, December 3, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Exhibit viewing hours: Mon., Dec. 3 through Wed., Dec. 12, 2012. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The exhibit is free, and open to the public.
